What about this for the start of a build?

Practiced Stance
Choking Gas
Focused Shot

Maintain Choking Gas. Spam Focused Shot.

I find Barrage, especially with H/H, useless. Trying to work on a build that makes rangers less suck. Comments? Ideas?

Adding Focused Shot requires high spec in Marksmanship as well as Expertise and Wilderness Survival. I prefer Incendiary Arrows with Choking Gas, since both benefit by high Wilderness Survival, and you only need enough Marks to meet the bow req. IA will let you hit multiple foes with Choking Gas at once. Ten or twelve seconds of Choking Gas is more than enough to interrupt a lot of high-damage, long-recharge spells. Throw in Lightning Reflexes for IAS. Since you have high Expertise to control energy costs, you can also consider Quickening Zephyr.

For starters, don't bother with a bow in PvE. Second, run this with this on a hero, using SoH, smite hex/condition, and castigation signet. Micro SoH on you and your pet and proceed to roll PvE.

Prac Stance is not worth , not even for choking gas , since its a stance you cant use IAS except for Candies.

I'm pretty shure that I've used Practised Stance with Choking Gas and an IAS. With enough points specced in Wilderness Survival, Practiced Stance will recharge before Choking Gas runs out. Works quite well on bunched-up groups of casters, but that build is too specialized to be generally usefull, occasionally using CG on Incendiary Arrows would probably work better.

When running with H&H using a Pet-scythe build may work better in difficult area's (or HM), you have more control over foes then with a AI-only melee.

K, clarifying. Don't bother with a bow in general pve. A scythe or Daggers will beat the crap out of the DPS of a bow. In a sc situation, or when there's a tank, splinter barrage can work well, but you'd be better off as a rit at that point.

Ranger is 1 class that allows players to "mimic" some other classes playstyle and its fun but only for a while. Make a Ranger only to play as a non-ranger or playing non-bows builds its pretty nonsense imo.

Back in the day it was Practiced Stance > CG > Flurry as a R/W

Flurry only lasts 5 secs so it was easy enough to just use Practiced Stance to cast CG then flurry repeatedly for a while.

I got my r1 Hero guy thing as a CG Ranger.

you do realise practice stance is only there to extend the duration of choking gas, can always bring another stance [lightning reflexes]

Yeah i do , but the more decent IAS that rangers have if you take out Preparations ( CG is up ) is Drunken Master and has a long recharge. Flurry Spam is another option or Frenzy if you are into that but even so , its pretty much half a bar to do .... 1 thing and not so good in HM due to mob increased casting time and bow attack rate ( even with IAS ).

Without ias , just dont mind about that combo.

If you want AoE interrupts, you're better off with BHA and epidemic. I've never been fond of CG because you are just randomly interrupting.

Everyone knows that rangers can do many things with 1 bar and if they are trying to be DPS chars they will always be behind W and A .
If you dont like rangers playstyle is not my prob , but telling someone to live its PvE Ranger entire life as a mimic of another prof is just nonsense .... create another char of that class instead lol.

yes ranger is shit dps compared to a warrior, but who cares? its pve, its so easy things die in 1 second

why would u want to try so hard and rupt in pve, its better to just kill them asap
